Bidirectional growth, premium demand, and why this corridor matters

Travel between Europe and Southeast Asia is surging in both directions. Europeans are booking Southeast Asian destinations in record numbers. Southeast Asians are increasingly choosing Europe for long-haul travel. This isn't a post-pandemic bounce — it's structural growth driven by rising incomes, better connectivity, and evolving traveler preferences.

VOLT is now live in Europe to serve this corridor. Here's what's driving the opportunity.

Two-Way Traffic

Most travel corridors are imbalanced. This one isn't.

Europe to Asia: Thailand is the top destination for European travelers for the second year running. Malaysia saw 20% growth in searches. Vietnam entered the top five for the first time. Demand is broad — UK, France, Germany lead, but Greece (+23%), Turkey (+21%), and Poland (+17%) are growing faster.

Asia to Europe: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand generate over 40 million outbound trips and USD 53 billion in travel spend annually. Europe is their top long-haul choice. This is premium demand — hotel ADRs from Indonesian and Thai travelers are up over 20%, with nearly two-thirds booking 4-star and above.

What's Driving It

Rising incomes. Two-thirds of the world's middle class will be in Asia by 2030. Southeast Asian economies are growing at 4.7% annually. As incomes rise, long-haul travel follows.

Better connectivity. Vietnam Airlines launched direct routes to Milan and Copenhagen this year. Turkish Airlines, Etihad, and others are adding capacity. Middle Eastern hubs offer efficient one-stop access both ways. The infrastructure now exists for high-volume traffic.

Fewer visa barriers. Thailand offers 60-day visa-free stays for 93 countries. Vietnam extended 45-day waivers for Europeans through 2028. Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia have visa-free Schengen access. Friction is falling on both ends.

The Scale

Asia-Pacific hotel bookings are up 23% in 2025 — outpacing every other region. Europe welcomed 625 million tourists in the first nine months of the year. Southeast Asia is on track to cross 100 million arrivals, with Vietnam alone hitting 14 million in eight months, up 20% year-on-year.

This is demand that's already flowing.

Where VOLT Fits

Travel businesses serving this corridor need inventory on both ends — and the infrastructure to deliver it reliably. That's what VOLT provides: hotels, flights, and experiences through a single API, with the operational backbone to handle complexity at scale.

For businesses in Asia selling European destinations, VOLT now offers access to European inventory. For European businesses targeting high-value Asian travelers, VOLT brings distribution reach into source markets that matter. The corridor is bidirectional. So is the opportunity.

VOLT is live in Europe. The corridor is open.
